At first glance I would guess that it meant something like &#8220;anti-dry&#8221;, so maybe it&#8217;s a moisturiser or something similar that prevents dryness.<\/p>\n<p>While that would be an accurate literal translation &#8211; it comes from <strong>anti-<\/strong> and <strong>s\u00e9cher<\/strong> (to dry) &#8211; what it actually means is a <strong>cheat sheet<\/strong> or <strong>crib sheet<\/strong>. That is, a sheet of paper used to assist on a test [<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/antis%C3%A8che\">source<\/a>].<\/p>\n<p><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/39954679@N07\/4721042506\/in\/photolist-FvFCgi-96avU-Ectoe7-Kro2YE-5Qhu1U-8cbzsA-R2UfhH-Btcek-aGkZne-aGkz9v-aGiGdc-aGiTDH-aGiWxc-aGiP5R-aGkwhr-aGkvKt-aGiNe6-aGj93n-aGiReF-aGjrdk-aGiFcF-aGiMAB-aGiSKM-aGjnNe-aGjqBk-bmtTFT-dqDi1v-6RGzx7\" title=\"antiseche\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/1113\/4721042506_b5697640e7_z.jpg\" alt=\"antiseche\" width=\"640\" height=\"425\"><\/a><script async=\"\" src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>As well as meaning to dry, <strong>s\u00e9cher<\/strong> also means to skip or miss (class), to dry out, to wither, to dry up or to be stumped. So an <strong>antis\u00e8che<\/strong> is something that prevents you from being stumped or drying up when asked difficult questions [<a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.reverso.net\/french-english\/s%C3%A9cher\">source<\/a>].<\/p>\n<p>I have a number of <strong>antis\u00e8ches<\/strong>, or maybe they&#8217;re more <strong>feuilles de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence<\/strong>, that summerise grammatical information for Irish and Russian. They&#8217;re very handy when I&#8217;m trying to write anything in these languages.
