Here are some I found:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>French: <strong>berceuse<\/strong> &#8211; from bercer (to craddle, rock), from the Old French <em>bercier<\/em> (to rock), from Vulgar Latin <em>*berti\u0101re<\/em>, from Gaulish, from Proto-Celtic <em>*berta-<\/em> (to shake)<\/li>\n<li>Irish: <strong>suantra\u00ed<\/strong> &#8211; from <strong>suan<\/strong> (sleep) and <strong>-tra\u00ed<\/strong> (type of music)<\/li>\n<li>Italian: <strong>ninnananna<\/strong> (onomatopoetic)<\/li>\n<li>Portuguese: <strong>can\u00e7\u00e3o de ninar<\/strong> (sleep song) &#8211; ninar = to sing to sleep, <strong>can\u00e7\u00e3o de embalar<\/strong> (rocking song)<\/li>\n<li>Spanish: <strong>canci\u00f3n de cuna<\/strong> (cradle song), <strong>nana<\/strong> (lullaby, wet nurse, nursemaid), <strong>arrurr\u00fa<\/strong> &#8211; from arrullo (cooing, murmur, lullaby)<\/li>\n<li>Welsh: <strong>hun-g\u00e2n<\/strong> (sleep song), <strong>(si-)lwli<\/strong> (onomatopoetic),  <strong>su(o)-g\u00e2n<\/strong> (lulling song),  <strong>hwian-g\u00e2n<\/strong> (murmur song)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Do you know of any other interesting ones?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week I wrote a new song &#8211; a lullaby inspired by learning that a Scots word for lullaby is lillilu.
