A marshy spot; a bog, quagmire; a quicksand.<br \/>\n2. all of a quob, in a mess; in a heap; a bad bruise<br \/>\n3. an unfirm layer of fat<br \/>\n4. A throb; a palpitation<br \/>\n5. <em>v.<\/em> To quiver like jelly; to throb, to palpitate<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Related words include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>quobby = marshy, boggy,  flabby, wanting solidity<\/li>\n<li>quobmire, <em>sb.<\/em> a quagmire<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Apparently <strong>quob<\/strong> comes from the East Friesian <strong>kwabbeln \/ kwobbeln<\/strong> (to tremble, vibrate). This is probably related to the West Frisian word <strong>kwab<\/strong> (weak, blubbery mass of fat or flesh; very fat person; brain lobe; jellyfish) [<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/kwab#West_Frisian\">Source<\/a>], and the Dutch word <strong>kwabbig<\/strong> (flabby, squishy) [<a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.reverso.net\/dutch-english\/kwabbig\">Source<\/a>]<\/p>\n<p>Some other interesting words from Wiltshire dialect include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>dumbledore \/ dumble = the humble-bee<\/li>\n<li>gigletting = fond of rough romping; wanton<\/li>\n<li>lottle = to sound as water trickling in a small stream<\/li>\n<li>muddle-fuss = a persistent meddler with other people&#8217;s affairs<\/li>\n<li>to womble = to wobble about from weakness<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gutenberg.org\/files\/45809\/45809-h\/45809-h.htm\"><em>A Glossary of Words Used in the County of Wiltshire<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If your hands and fingers become quobbled, should you be worried?
