Why a word for a wooden crate became an exclamation of disgust is not clear.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some examples of how it&#8217;s used (from <a href=\"https:\/\/context.reverso.net\/translation\/spanish-english\/gu%c3%a1cala\">ReversoContext<\/a> and Duolingo):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a1Gu\u00e1cala! \u00a1Sabe horrible! = Yuck! It tastes horrible!<\/li>\n<li>\u00a1Gu\u00e1cala, casi lo pis\u00e9! = Ew, I almost stepped in it.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a1No, gu\u00e1cala! = No, it&#8217;s disgusting!<\/li>\n<li>\u00a1Gu\u00e1cala, mal postre = Euhhh&#8230; bad pie<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Related words include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>gu\u00e1cara = vomit<\/li>\n<li>guacarear = to vomit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Both of which are used in Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>Other Spanish words with a similar meaning include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a1Qu\u00e9 asco! = Yuck! How revolting! How disgusting!<\/li>\n<li>\u00a1Puaj! = Ew! Yeech! Blecchh! Yuk! Phooey! Gross!<\/li>\n<li>\u00a1Uf! = Phew! Ugh!<\/li>\n<li>\u00a1Puf! = Yuck!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Are there other words in Spanish with a similar meaning?<\/p>\n<p>What about equivalent words in other languages?<\/p>\n<p>One of my favourite expressions in Welsh is <strong>ych a fi!<\/strong> [\u0259x \u0259 vi\u02d0], which means yuck!
