According to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/hondenweer\">Wiktionary<\/a> it means &#8220;particularly bad or rough weather, the kind of weather when it is raining cats and dogs&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The equivalent in French is <strong>temps de chien<\/strong> [t\u0251\u0303 d\u0259 \u0283j\u025b\u0303] (&#8220;dog weather&#8221;), which refers to filthy, dreadful or awful weather [<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/temps_de_chien#French\">source<\/a>].<\/p>\n<p>If the weather is even worse, you might say that it&#8217;s <strong>weer om geen hond door te sturen<\/strong> (&#8220;weather through which not to send any dog&#8221;) [<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/weer_om_geen_hond_door_te_sturen#Dutch\">source<\/a>].
