{"id":18174,"date":"2019-08-10T19:56:26","date_gmt":"2019-08-10T19:56:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.omniglot.com\/bloggle\/?p=18174"},"modified":"2019-08-10T19:56:26","modified_gmt":"2019-08-10T19:56:26","slug":"sabhal-mor-ostaig-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.omniglot.com\/bloggle\/?p=18174","title":{"rendered":"Sabhal M\u00f2r Ostaig"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This coming week I will be at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smo.uhi.ac.uk\/en\/\">Sabhal M\u00f2r Ostaig<\/a>, the Gaelic college on the Isle of Skye, doing a course in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smo.uhi.ac.uk\/en\/cursaichean\/cursaichean-goirid\/rain-earra-ghaidheal-le-joy-dunlop-2019\/\">Argyll Gaelic Song \/  \u00d2rain Earra-Gh\u00e0idheal<\/a> with Joy Dunlop. I think this is the eighth time I&#8217;ve been to the college, and I&#8217;m looking forward to it very much.<\/p>\n<p><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/omniglot\/albums\/72157684665806711\" title=\"Sabhal M\u00f2r Ostaig\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/1762\/42480878685_b040021284_z.jpg\" alt=\"Sabhal M\u00f2r Ostaig\" width=\"640\" height=\"361\"><\/a><script async=\"\" src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Tonight I&#8217;m staying in Glasgow, and tomorrow I&#8217;ll get the train along the West Highland Line to Mallaig, a very scenic journey, the ferry to Armadale, and then hopefully there&#8217;ll be a bus to the college.<\/p>\n<p><a data-flickr-embed=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/omniglot\/albums\/72157684557030471\" title=\"Glasgow \/ Glaschu\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/1785\/42542181134_5572f9e71f_z.jpg\" alt=\"Glasgow \/ Glaschu\" width=\"640\" height=\"361\"><\/a><script async=\"\" src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>On the train from Glasgow to Crookston, the suburb of Glasgow where I&#8217;m staying, I heard some Italian tourists talking to the guard. They didn&#8217;t seem to speak much English, and they had the wrong tickets, or they&#8217;d got on the wrong train. They asked the guard in Italian if he spoke Italian, and fortunately for them he did. It sounded to me like his Italian was very fluent, and everything was quickly sorted out.
