It doesn&#8217;t sound quite like the English word clock, but looks like it should. In fact it sounds more like cluck.<\/p>\n<p>Some examples of how it&#8217;s used, and of related words:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>klok gubbe = wise old man<\/li>\n<li>klok gumma = wise woman<\/li>\n<li>klok som en bok\/pudel\/uggla = as wise as a book\/poodle\/owl<\/li>\n<li>En s\u00e5dan politik skulle inte vara klok = Such a policy would be ill-advised<\/li>\n<li>Detta \u00e4r en klok rekommendation = This is a sensible recommendation<\/li>\n<li>det verkar klokt = that seems wise<\/li>\n<li>\u00c4r du inte klok? = Are you out of your mind?<\/li>\n<li>\u00c4r du inte riktigt klok? = Are you crazy? Are you completely out of your mind?<\/li>\n<li>Jag blev inte klok p\u00e5 det = I cannot make it out, It didn&#8217;t make sense to me<\/li>\n<li>klokhet = wisdom, prudence, sense, wit<\/li>\n<li>klokskap = cleverness<\/li>\n<li>klokt = wisely, judiciously, sagely<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Owls are also seen as wise in English, and although we don&#8217;t say &#8216;as wise as a book&#8217;, reading books can help on the road to wisdom.
