Here’s a silly little song I wrote recently – the first song I’ve ever written in fact – which I sang in public for the first time this morning. It was at the Joy of Singing class I go to on Monday mornings, and was well-received.<\/p>\n

The Elephant Song<\/h3>\n

There’s a matter we must discuss
\nBut I don’t want to make a fuss
\nIt’s an issue we must address
\nBut I don’t want to cause any stress.<\/p>\n

There’s an elephant in the room
\nYou’ve noticed, I assume
\nShe’s rather large and grey
\nAnd getting in the way.<\/p>\n

Oh why you can’t see
\nIt’s so obvious to me
\nWe need to sort this out
\nAnd there’s no need to pout!<\/p>\n

Now the elephant’s in the hall
\nPainting pictures on the wall
\nOf dragons and ships and trees
\nAnd great big bumblebees.<\/p>\n

We must find a way
\nWe can’t let her stay
\nI’ll go and call the zoo
\nTo see what they can do<\/p>\n

Now the elephant’s on the stairs
\nPlaying scrabble with the bears
\nWho live under chairs
\nAnd like to wear blue flares.<\/p>\n

The zoo say they can give her
\nA nice place to stay
\nAnd we can go and see her
\nAnd we never have to pay.<\/p>\n

Now the elephant’s in the zoo
\nMaking friends with the kangaroos
\nAnd delighting all the kids
\nBy juggling dustbin lids.<\/p>\n
