The French exclamation C’est inou\u00ef !<\/strong> means “It’s incredible!”. <\/p>\n The word inou\u00ef<\/strong> [inwi] means unprecedented, incredible, unheard-of, extraordinary, amazing. It is a combination of the negative prefix in-<\/em> and ou\u00ef<\/em>, which comes from ou\u00efr<\/em> (to hear, to listen), from the Old French oir<\/em> (to hear, listen), from Latin audi\u014d (I hear, listen, pay attention), from Proto-Indo-European *h\u2082ew-is-d-<\/em>, a compound of *h\u2082ewis<\/em> (clearly, manifestly) and *d\u02b0h\u2081-ye\/o-<\/em> (to render) [source<\/a>].<\/p>\n A friend told me last week that the TGV<\/a> (le train \u00e0 grande vitesse<\/em><\/a>), France’s high-speed rail service, is being rebranded the inOui<\/strong>. In fact, inOui<\/strong><\/a> is the new name, introduced in 2017, for certain premium services on the TGV. All premium services will be known as inOUi by 2020.
