The other day I learnt an interesting Russian idiom (via Duolingo<\/a>) – \u0420\u0430\u0431\u043e\u0442\u0430\u0442\u044c \u043a\u0430\u043a \u043b\u043e\u0448\u0430\u0434\u044c<\/strong> [r\u0250\u02c8bot\u0259t\u02b2 kak \u02c8lo\u0282\u0259t\u02b2], which means literally “to work like a horse”, and is used to indicate that you are working hard. For example, \u0421\u0435\u0433\u043e\u0434\u043d\u044f \u044f \u0440\u0430\u0431\u043e\u0442\u0430\u044e \u043a\u0430\u043a \u043b\u043e\u0448\u0430\u0434\u044c<\/em> (Today I am working like a horse).<\/p>\n

You can also work like an ox in Russian: \u0440\u0430\u0431\u043e\u0442\u0430\u0442\u044c \u043a\u0430\u043a \u0432\u043e\u043b<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The English equivalent is to work like a dog<\/strong>, as in the Beatles song, A Hard Day’s Night<\/a>. Are there other English idioms with a similar meaning?<\/p>\n

In French you can also work like a dog, or travailler comme un chien.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In Hebrew you work like a donkey: \u05dc\u05e2\u05d1\u05d5\u05d3 \u05db\u05de\u05d5 \u05d7\u05de\u05d5\u05e8<\/strong> (la’avod kmo khamor).<\/p>\n

In Italian you work like a mule: Lavorare come un mulo.<\/strong><\/p>\n

What about in other languages?<\/p>\n
