Do you know your country’s national motto? <\/p>\n

Not all countries have them. Many are in Latin and other ancient languages, and most are a bit bland and include things like freedom, liberty, unity, strength, work, progress, God, etc. <\/p>\n

Here are some more interesting ones:<\/p>\n

– Isle of Man<\/a> (Latin): Quocunque Ieceris Stabit<\/strong> (Whithersoever you throw it, it will stand) – refers to the triskelion on the flag.<\/p>\n

– Luxembourg (Luxembourgish): Mir w\u00eblle bleiwe wat mir sinn<\/strong> (We wish to remain what we are)<\/p>\n

– Moldova (Romanian): Limba noastr\u0103-i o comoar\u0103<\/strong> (Our Language is a Treasure)<\/p>\n

– Somalia: Go forward, and never backward<\/strong><\/p>\n

– South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands (Latin): Leo terram propriam protegat<\/strong> (Let the lion protect his own land)<\/p>\n

– Switzerland (Latin): Unus pro omnibus, omnes pro uno<\/strong> (One for all, all for on)<\/p>\n

– Turks and Caicos Islands: Beautiful By Nature, Clean By Choice<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you were asked to think of a new motto for your country, perhaps one that reflects how you feel about the country, what would you suggest?<\/p>\n

Wales:

\n – Mae dreigiau yma<\/strong> (Here Be Dragons)
\n – Gwlad Gydgordiol<\/strong> (Harmonious Country)<\/p>\n

England:
\n – Perfer et Obdura<\/strong> (Keep Calm and Carry On) [source<\/a>]
\n – Let’s Not Make a Fuss<\/strong>
\n – Ignosce mihi!<\/strong> (Sorry!)
\n – Terra antiqua<\/strong> (The Antique Terror, or possibly the Old Land)
