It is defined as follows:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; One, especially a politician, who is guided by personal advantage rather than by consistent, respectable principles.<br \/>\n&#8211; A politician who cares more for personal gain than serving the people (<em>Slang, USA<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>From: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thefreedictionary.com\/snollygoster\">The Free Dictionary<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; A shrewd person not guided by principles, especially a politician <\/p>\n<p><strong>Etymology<\/strong>: from 19th-century American English.
