For example, X is the new Y, A doesn&#8217;t know the meaning of B, and C is D&#8217;s middle name. Just replace the letters with words and you have a clich\u00e9 you can use in quite a wide range of circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>Wikipedia defines a snowclone as: &#8220;a neologism used to describe a type of formula-based clich\u00e9 which uses an old idiom in a new context&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few examples:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>grey is the new black<br \/>\ncoders are from Mars, designers are from Venus<br \/>\nthe only good language is a dead language<br \/>\nthe care and feeding of small, temperamental Japanese motorcycle engines<br \/>\nthe internet is the best thing since sliced bread<br \/>\nthe word surrender is not in my dictionary<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There are many more templates on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.answers.com\/topic\/list-of-snowclones\">Answers.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The term snowclone was coined by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.csun.edu\/~dgw61315\/index.html\">Glen Whitman<\/a>, an Associate Professor of Economics, California State University, Northridge, on 15th January 2004.
