Midlander alphabet

Origin

Midlander is a phonetic alphabet created by Erik Ruser for use in a series of fantasy novels currently being written by his friend Eric Vargo. The alphabet was created for a language by the same name which is currently under development by Eric, but it can also be used to approximate English as well as most European languages.

Notable features

Midlander is a cursive script in which each word is written as a continuous line.
Midlander is an abjad (Vowels are written as diacritical marks).
For every voiced consonant there is an unvoiced equivalent, and vice versa
The letter r [ɹ] is considered a vowel.
Midlander can be written in any direction with any orientation, though left to right is most common. The start of sentence symbol carries no phonetic value, but rather indicates the orientation of the inscription.
The sound [h] is considered an unvoiced vowel.
A bar over two consecutive vowel markings indicates that the vowels should be pronounced together as a diphthong.
