Byeokrando is an alternative script for Korean created by Bae Jun. It was modelled on the Arabic script but written from left to right and with letters that do not change shape depending on their position. The name Byeokrando comes from the name of a port dating from the Goryeo period (AD 918-1392) that was famous for trade with Arab merchants from the Abbasid dynasty.
