...For over two years I have been teaching phonics to students who are struggling readers and helping them to read more smoothly. I reviewed the vowels and consonant sounds and consonant combinations so that the students could decode words more easily. The students practiced breaking words into syllables and sounding out the letter sounds to decode unknown or nonsense words.
