I ran cross-country for 3 years and trained in Mammoth Mountain each summer as well as competed across California. In Track & Field I did the 100m dash, 100m and 300m hurdles.

...Effectively teaching History means you help kids connect the dots and show them why events happened in the order that they occurred. Telling interesting stories and making History relevant to student's lives is more effective than memorizing dates and writing a time-line on the board. Teaching Political Science is much the same.

...I also remember what it is like to learn Spanish as a non-native speaker, and have a lot of strategies to make my students' work less tedious and their conversation more fluid. I love Spanish, but recognize that not everyone does; I aim to share my enthusiasm without alienating my students. At UCSD I was a tutor for an undergraduate poetry class.
