Health insurance for individual
In our fast paced and fast changing times it is very important to take good care of our health. Health is wealth! As all of us have this one life to live we would not like to be stopped or pushed back by an illness or disease or an accident in our march towards our goal. Thus it becomes imperative to take some precautions to meet such eventualities wherein we may incur a small or huge, as the case may be, expenses for our unforeseen medical treatments. That is where the Health or Medical insurance comes into picture.
Medical insurance covers individuals and their families against unforeseen expenses arising from illness, injury or accidents. Many consumers purchase insurance for their vehicles to protect their vehicle, others purchase house holders policies or shopkeepers policies to protect their properties. Medical insurance is just another type of protection that is always a smart investment. Just as we have a lot of options to choose from, in case we go on a holiday, there are a whole lot of different types of care available when it comes to healthcare.
The expenses covered by a health insurance policy are as follows:
- Room, boarding expenses in the hospital/ nursing
home.
- Nursing
expenses.
- Surgeon, Anesthetist, Medical Practitioner,
Consultants, Specialist fees.
Anesthesia, blood, oxygen, operation theater charges, surgical appliances, medicines and drugs, diagnostic materials and X-ray, dialysis, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, cost of pacemaker, artificial limbs and cost of organs and similar expenses.
The policy provides for reimbursement of Hospitalization/Domiciliary hospitalization expenses for illness/ disease suffered of accidental injury sustained during the policy period.
Once we have decided to insure for our health, there are some criteria which we must take into consideration. Like- Age limit, the required health checkups, the sum to be insured and the premium to be paid, then, we have to enter the proposal form which incorporates a prospectus giving details of the cover, such as coverage, exclusions, provisions etc. In order to reduce the risk of unexpected medical insurance cost, private health insurance companies now offer a vast array of medical insurance plans. These plans vary widely in terms of coverage, costs and benefits. It is important to know the difference. Medical insurance can be purchased on an individual or group basis. In case of an individual insurance, it can be tailored to your particular needs. But because of the wide options available it is better to shop around and compare the prices as well as the benefits offered before making a decision to purchase a medical insurance. At first glance, the plans and policies of all the companies may seem the same. But, on closer look and scrutiny of the technical jargon, you may discover that they are quite different. Buying medical insurance is one of the most confusing policies to buy in the insurance sector. So, it is always safer to be apprised by a trustworthy agency before taking the policy.
Medical or Health insurance coverage is available from commercial medical insurance companies; hospital and medical service plan providers, like Blue Cross and Blue Shield; and health maintenance organizations (HMOs) like HealthNet, PacifiCare and Kaiser, etc. The Government sponsored companies in India which provide a wide range of insurance policies are National Insurance Co.Ltd., The New India Assurance Co.Ltd., The Oriental Insurance Co.Ltd., and United India Insurance Co.Ltd. There are also a few Private companies providing health insurance in India.
Thus, with so much to be offered in this sector of healthcare, it has become mandatory for all of us to go on and invest for our health, if not for anything else. We maybe taken unawares by a sudden set back in our health, like an illness, disease or an unfortunate accident.so, why take a chance
