Delaware

Delaware is believed to have been explored by the Spanish and Portuguese in the early years of 16th century. However, Captain Cornelius Hendrickson is considered as the first civilized man who explored Delaware Bay and river in 1613-1614. The settlement in Delaware started during these years when Samuel Blommaert and Samuel Godwyn send a crew to buy land. The land was under the rule of Swedish followed by the Dutch forces. British and America also ruled the place for long years. Finally, in 1776, Delaware was declared independent from the British Empire. Since then, Delaware has been constantly improving its economical standards.

Delaware became the first state in USA on 7th December 1787. Today, it is the 49th biggest state of USA that is spread at an area of 1,954 sq.mi. Delaware is the 45th most populous state of USA with a population of approximately 807,385. Delaware is bordered by water bodies Delaware Bay and Atlantic Ocean and by land with states including Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Delaware is finely categorized into three counties viz. New Castle, Kent and Sussex. New Castle is historically important industrialized county of Delaware that constitutes more than two-thirds of population.
