60s furniture

Furniture is a result of creative design. It is considered as form of attractive art. Furniture is made of different materials such as wood, plastic, aluminum, steel and many more. Furniture gives comfort to human being while sitting and sleeping. There are different types of furniture's art nouveau furniture, art craft furniture and many more.

Storage furniture such as drawers and shelves is used to keep furnitures such as tools, books, clothes and household goods. There are furniture of 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s all these furniture are different, there are rarely some similarities. The furniture of 40s gave comfort but less than 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s. In every stage the furniture used, during those decades were more comfort.

The furniture was made by keeping in account about the people needs in those decades. 60s furniture were more stylish, more attractive, and more comfort giving then 50s and 40s furniture. From above mentioned sentence we can say that this furniture's are made according to the requirement of the people.

Furniture of the Early 1960's

Furniture produced during the 1960's is typically described as Scandinavian Contemporary. These furniture styles were distinct by use of effective design and natural wood. The influences of Scandinavian contemporary are seen in many of modern times furniture. This furniture of 1960s consisted of straight lines, virtually no decoration, and simple designs. The cabinet of those times were of wood and it was boxed shaped with two panel doors and with drawer underneath.

There was a standard pull design it was a half-sphere attached and the based of this was attached to a small wooden cylinder. These furniture used wax, oil varnish, or stain as a finishing coat. In 1960s comfort played an increasingly more important role. Furniture of 1960s had less ornamentation than in the past. In the past furniture was a status symbol but in the 1960s it was not considered as status symbol. And therefore in this decades attention was not given to ornamentation of furniture. Furniture of this decade was not made of metals it was made of wood. Therefore, furniture created in this decade was of simple designs.

Solid wood were used to craft furniture. The wood used to make furniture in 1960s was maple, oak, birch, and teak. Mahogany and black walnut was some of the dark woods which were used in 60s. The furniture made in this decade was very strong.The bedroom furniture of those days was different from present days, but the furniture was attractive and comfort giving, same with living room furniture.

The furniture of 1960 was very simple. The ornamentation were not there in 60s furniture because during that time furniture were not status symbol. The furniture of 60s was not made of steel, aluminum, and iron instead it was made of woods. The furniture was made of only wood but of different kinds of woods such as maple, teak, oak, pine and many more. Comfort was given more importance in this decade.
