Motorcycle tires

Tires are an important component of any vehicle. In fact they are the main system of the vehicles. Tires have to be in a very good condition to give a smooth run to the vehicles. In case of motorcycles, the need of well maintained and balanced tires is must as the motorcycles stands on the tires and requires it for the balancing of the vehicle. Problem arises when tires of any vehicle gets punctured while traveling in the midway. Same is the case experienced by the rider, when he is riding a motorcycle and the tire happens to gets punctured or pinned in the midway. But the rider is safe and wise enough if he knows the art of handling the motorcycles tires which involves the mounting and balancing of a motorcycle tire. Now let us discuss in detail with regard to the motorcycle tire mounting and balancing techniques.

The concept is simple as taking of the old motorcycle tire and replacing it with new tires. There after balance the same and check whether it causes vibrations at speed. If one is interested in doing the same, then the time taken in mounting and balancing motorcycles tires depends upon a person interest or else one may sweat profusely with hard work and possible damage done to some parts of his body while handling various tools. Hence once one gets practiced in mounting and balancing motorcycle tires then the task is an easy and interesting job. However the amount of the time taken also depends upon the persons experience and interest on the job.

It is better if one mounts and balances his motorcycle on his own, rather than call some mechanic from the workshop or garage. It is better to carry out this process by oneself because the user can show extra care on his motorcycle while handling, especially the polished alloyed wheels, which could be damaged by rough handling. Frankly saying mounting and balancing a motorcycle tire is a tedious job. But by handling the mechanism with proper tools can benefit the user to a large extent. The approximate time needed to mount the motorcycle tire is two hours.

Motorcycle tires can be maintained in a proper and efficient way if the necessary following steps are maintained.

Keep your motorcycle tires properly inflated. This is because a under inflated tire could produce a lot of heat which could lead to major accidents and blow ups.

It should be checked out to see that the motorcycle tires do run too hot as it will wear out more quickly. According to survey carried out with reference to the motorcycle tires the United Kingdom, is the first in having the most frequent motorcycle tire collapse and damage.

Always have a pencil type tire gauge and use it until you feel the correct instinct of your motorcycle tires getting correctly inflated.

Check out both the motorcycle tires for any signs of cuts and cracks. If you find that one of them is nearing their end, it is better to get them changed. Always replace your motorcycle tires as soon as you gauge that the tires need to be replaced. The sooner the replacement of the motorcycle tires the safer the rider is.

Always see to have a puncture repair kit on the motorcycle when riding. This would help to repair the motorcycle tires temporarily. The kit should contain the necessary items like the rubber patches, liquid required for pasting the patches on the tube and the tire iron while taking the motorcycle tire form the rim. If the motorcycle consists of tubeless tires, then purchase a tubeless tire puncture repair kit.

Techniques involving in handling the mounting and balancing of motorcycle tires:

The process is similar to the mounting and balancing of tires of a car or a bicycle tire.

Take the wheel off the motorcycle and then let out all air present inside the tire. This process can be fastened by removing the valve stem core with a proper tool.

Hold the bead breaker and split the bead of the motorcycle tire away from the rim.

Place and pose the wheel on a good support or place the same on the tire changing stand.

Position the wheel on a support which could be a twenty gallon drum or an equal support weight.

Trip the tire iron from the bead and rim on the either side of the motorcycle tire and force open the bead over the other near border of the rim.

Trip another iron below the bead which should be only three to four inches from the first side.

Next remove all the dirt from the bead area of the rim, as this will guarantee a good fasten between the motorcycle tire and the rim

Later put in the new valve stem, and place it using the valve stem device to pull it up into the right pose.

The next step is to place the motorcycle tire on the rim. To undertake this process grease the both heads of the motorcycle tire with a special fluid called as the wheel mounting fluid. This is a very important process as this method lubricates the bead of the motorcycle tire thus making it easier to build up. When it dries it will get very shabby. For safety purposes always use the lubricant that is specially designed for mounting the motorcycle tires.

Then check out to see that the motorcycle tire is rotating in the correct direction when it is placed on the motorcycle.
