(Bolar bala boġınan)
Who a boy will become is evident from an early age (lit. from the poop).

Әкеге қарап ұл өседі, шешеге қарап қыз өседі.
(Äkege qarap ul ősedi, sheshege qarap qız ősedi.)
Watching [his] father the son grows up, watching [her] mother a daughter grows up.

Әкесіз жетім арсыз жетім, шешесіз жетім шерлі жетім.
(Äkesiz jetim arsız jetim, sheshesiz jetim sherli jetim.)
The fatherless orphan lacks honor; the motherless orphan is a sorrowful orphan.

Тауықты тойдыра алмайсын, қызды киіндіре алмайсын.
(Taūıqtı toydıra almaysın, qızdı kiyindire almaysın.)
You cannot give a chicken enough food to satisfy it; you cannot give a girl enough clothes to satisfy her.

Балалы үйдің ұрлығы жатпас.
(Balalı űydiŋ urlırı jatpas.)
The child’s wrong doing at home cannot be kept secret.

Өз балаң өзекке тепсеңде кетпейді, өзгенің баласы кісендесең де тұрмайды.
(Őz balaŋ őzekke tepsende ketpeydi, őzgeniŋ balası kisendeseŋ de turmaydı.)
You can kick your own child and he will not leave; you can bind another’s child and he will not stay put.

Баланы іске бұйыр, соңынан өзің жүгір.
(Balanı iske buyır, soŋınan őziŋ jűgir.)
Tell a child what to do; afterwards you control what or how he did it (lit. run after him).

Баланы жастан, әйелді бастан.
(Balanı jastan, äyeldi bastan.)
A child must be trained in his youth; a wife must be trained from the beginning of the marriage.

Бала жүруді жығылудан үйренеді.
(Bala jurūdi jıġılūdan űyrenedi.)
The child learns to walk by falling down.

Балалы үй базар, баласыз үй мазар.
(Balalı uy bazar, balasız uy mazar.)
The home with a child is a bazaar; the childless home is a grave.

Жақсыдан жаман туар – бір аяққа алғысыз, жаманнан жақсы туар – адам айтса нанғысыз.
(Jaqsıdan jaman tūar – bir ayaqqa alġısız, jamannan jaqsı tūar – adam aytsa nanġısız.)
From good parents a bad child can come – one who doesn't offer a cup of tea; from bad parents a good child can come – if someone tells you this you will hardly believe it.

Қарға баласын аппағым дер, кірпі баласын жұмсағым дер.
(Qarġa balasın appaġım der, kirpi balasın jumsaġım der.)
To the crow his child appears white; to the hedgehog his child appears soft.

Бұқаға туған күн, бұзауға да туады.
(Byqaġa tūġan kűn, buzaūġa da tūadı.)
What the bull has seen, for the calf is yet to come.

Қызы бардың назы бар.
(Qızı bardıŋ nazı bar.)
If you have a girl you have worries.

Қасқырды қанша асырасаң да тауға қарап ұлиды.
(Qasqırdı qansha asırasaŋ da taūġa qarap uliydı.)
No matter how much you train the wolf, he still looks at the mountains and howls.

Аттан тай озады, атадан бала озады.
(Attan tay ozadı, atadan bala ozadı.)
The colt can surpass the horse; the child can surpass his father.

Күшік асырап ит еттім балтырымды қапты, соқырды үйретіп мерген еттім өзімді атты.
(Kűshik asırap iyt ettim baltırımdı qaptı, soqırdı űiyretip mergen ettim őzimdi attı.)
You can train a puppy and it will later bite you in the calf; you can train a blind man how to shoot a gun and he will later kill you.

Бала, баланың ісі шала. (Bala, balanıŋ isi shala.)
A child, her childish deeds are imperfect.

Жыламаған балаға емшек жоқ.
(Jılamaġan balaġa emshek joq.)
The child who does not cry is not given the breast.

Сиырды жақсы көрсеткен артындағы танасы, Әйелді жақсы көрсеткен қасындағы баласы.
(Siyırdı jaqsı kőrsetken artındaġı tanası, äyeldi jaqsı kőrsetken qasındaġı balası.)
The cow with the good heifer (is considered good), the woman with the good child (is considered good).
