...I understand the direct correlation between reading and writing. Students are being challenged to write in the content areas such as Science and Social Studies, which can be difficult for those who are struggling with written expression. I use a variety of interactive graphic organizers and "thinking maps" to help support writing.

...I spent two years of school leading ASL and deaf culture. I earn my minor in Asl. While attaining my minor in ASL I started an ASL group at my church.

...I gained experience early in my career some 20 plus years ago. I have maintained sign language skills over the course of my lifetime to include teaching my children who are special needs. My daughter could not speak for the first 7 years of her life and signing was all she could do to communicate after I began using it with her to adapt to her world.
