New York Car Insurance Quote
New York state law requires that you have three types of auto insurance coverage in order to operate a motor vehicle:
• Auto liability coverage
• Uninsured motorist bodily injury coverage
• Personal injury protection (PIP)
Auto liability coverage helps to cover any property damage or personal injuries that you caused in an automobile accident. The minimum amount required is 25/50 (see the table below). This amount increases to 50/100 in the evens that a death occurs.
Uninsured motorist bodily injury coverage helps to cover costs of your own personal injuries if you are hit by someone without liability insurance
PIP coverage, also known as No-Fault Insurance , covers any personal injuries incureed in an accident, no matter who was at fault. It includes medical expenses, loss of service or wages, as well as a death benefit. Keep in mind, though, that this coverage prevents you from suing the other party for damages, unless the accident results in serious injury or death.
Leased / Financed Vehicles:
Most leasing companies in New York typically require drivers to maintain insurance coverage which exceeds the minimums set by New York state law.
