Having prepared the environment she has to maintain it in the state of preparedness so that the child continues to enjoy the various forms of assistance made available to him –
- The child should enjoy the freedom for self expression and cultivate self confidence to express himself freely.
- The child should find scope to experience the environment as a whole which would enrich his language.
- Help the child build up a vocabulary rich in quality and quantity to support the free expressions of his thoughts.
- To help the child build up phonic awareness as related to his spoken language. This will enable him to speak the language with the right articulation and pronunciation.
- He needs to be helped to further structure his language.
- He should be given scope for exploration and utilisation to support consolidation.

The environment has to be lively, familiar and prepared exclusively for the developing child. The child should be offered freedom and stimulation for speech which would instil a sense of belonging and foster confidence in him. He should receive the same respect and attention which is offered to the adult member of the community. The directress should listen to the child patiently and intently. She may help the child by interpreting for him only when necessary. The responses given should be positive at all times. The directress should seriously regard the child’s speech [whatever he says and however he may express it] and help him build up self confidence, self esteem and self worth. Eventually this would get reflected in his speech and would also make him realise that it is as much important to listen to others as much it is to speak to others. This would lead him to understand that his freedom should not impinge on the freedom of others and result as a disturbance of social life in the House of Children. Eventually the positive message that he has received in this prepared environment, he would be extending it to the wider environment.
