What to See:
• The Bell County Museum: 201 N. Main, Belton, TX 76513.
It was earlier called the Carnegie Library. Founded in 1904, it has been renovated in 1991. A special section is devoted to the display of a variety of items of the era when of Ma Ferguson served as the Governor of Texas. You can also admire the exquisite models of the Bell County Courthouse and various other well-known buildings of the city. A volunteer will guide you around the museum. You can also visit the bookstore within the premises. Visitors are permitted to make contributions.

• The Bell County Courthouse: Founded in 1884 and renovated recently. The bell tower has been given back its place of pride.

• Lake Belton: it is located in the North-West of Belton. Covering more than 12,000 acres, it has 13 parks in its vicinity. [See section on Parks mentioned later]
• The Miller Springs Nature Center: P.O.Box 752, Belton, TX 76513.
(i) It is located at the nearby Lake Belton.
(ii) It is open the entire day, all through the year. No fees.
(iii) Rules: Camping, Hunting and lighting fires are strictly prohibited. Also, you cannot bring along your bicycle or a pet. Rock climbing is permitted from Nov.1st Jan.31st.

It provides a huge variety of fun activities to the general public, including camping and hiking, bike and
equestrian trails, picnic spots, fishing and water recreation, and lots more.
Parks of Belton: The parks in Belton are classified under 3 categories:
1. Community Parks: These are very large parks, having facilities for sports and recreational activities.
• Heritage Park: Spread over 60 acres, it is the largest park in Belton. It is situated in the eastern part of the city, and touches the Leon River. There are 4 well-lit little league baseball fields, 4 soccer fields, a playground section with swing sets, and even picnic tables and grills that can be accessed by the physically challenged. On the riverside, there is a fishing pier and boat dock.
• Chisholm Trail Park: Set up just 5 years ago, it is located in the northeast section of Belton. You can enjoy a picnic at one of the barbecue pits or exercise your legs down the mile-walking trail. There are fields for softball and soccer, a basketball and volleyball court, an inline skating court, an Amphitheatre and nature center.
• Yettie Polk Park: Located at Davis Street, near the pretty Nolan Creek, it is a popular site for wedding ceremonies. There is a lovely gazebo where you can slip the wedding ring on your brides finger. A raised bandstand and bleacher seating area for more than 200 people is convenient for cheering your basketball team. There are more than two dozen picnic units and also a .20 mile crushed rock trail.
• Confederate Park: Covering an area of 15 acres, at this park, in addition to a small basketball court, there is a playground area.
2. Neighborhood Parks: These are generally spread over less than 5 acres and the local residents utilize the recreational activities available.
• Beall Park: Located in east Belton. Laze beneath the shade of large Oak trees, while your children have fun in the newly installed playground section with its swing set. There is also one picnic table with benches.
• South Wall: It is located in the southeastern section of Belton. Here, in the playground area, there is a sand safety section. The picnic unit includes a barbecue pit.
• Quail Meadows Park: Located near the Belton High School, it has a mile jogging and walking trail.
3. Special Purpose Parks: These are specifically for athletic or specialized recreational activities. There is also a separate exercise station and playground area.
• Jaycee Field: This field is for senior league baseball games. A playground section for children and a picnic unit is also available.
• Others are: Continental Field, Lions Field, and Griggs Field
