Admission:
All the institutions in the system have their own set of eligibility criteria and procedures for admission. There is no centralization with respect to admission procedures. The courses offered are semester-based.
All the Institutions under the system have a thorough mix of local and international student population. Some institutions under the UT system, located close to the southern border of Texas are most sought after by the Hispanic population.
Texas Common Course Numbering System(TCCNS):
There is a common numbering system for the courses on offer in the state of Texas. The institutions under the University of Texas System, which hold membership to TCCNS adhere to the Common Course Numbering System. TCCNS maintains a database of courses offered by its member institutions. The database is in the form of a matrix. Prospective students can access the database at www.tccns.org. The matrix presents data about all the courses (based on common course numbers) offered by all its member institutions. A student, planning to take up a particular course in Texas can thus choose the institution that best suits his/her requirements, from a wide array of institutions which offer that course. This incredibly simplifies the search process with respect to fresh admissions. In case of transfers too, the system comes in very handy as it determines the course equivalency and other vital parameters among the participating institutions.
Financial AID
The websites of all the institutions under the UT system have important financial aid sites within them. FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) application forms can be downloaded from all the websites belonging to the University of Texas System.
The feathers adorning the cap of the UT system are numerous. Libraries that hold collections running into millions, museums, hospitals, observatories...you name it; the system has it! Fifteen institutions, hundreds of courses, thousands of students! UNLIMITED POSSIBILITIES is what the University of Texas System intends to offer. Each institution, with its own athletic teams, publications, alumni associations, student organizations, administrative systems, multi-cultural environments etc. is a world in itself. The system that receives millions of dollars as endowment, both public and private, also has an economic impact to the tune of billions of dollars on the State of Texas and the nation as a whole. And, when we talk about its non-economic impacts, we can not but agree to the fact that theres a little bit of UT-contribution in every walk of life in Texas.
