Chicago is one of the most important US destinations, with extensive competition being available on flights from London to the Windy City. All transatlantic flights to Chicago arrive at O\'Hare airport, the second busiest in the world after Atlanta. Chicago O\'Hare is rare amongst US airports in that it is a major hub for two airlines - American and United. The importance of Chicago as a transatlantic hub airport is further enhanced by the partnership that these two airlines have with two of the UK's biggest airlines - British Airways (One World Alliance) and BMI (Star Alliance) respectively. On the other hand, this arrangement makes operating flights to Chicago a less attractive proposition for Virgin Atlantic, although Pakistan International Airlines do offer flights to Chicago from Manchester.
Chicago flights from UK Regional Airports
Despite CAA figures showing that the London to Chicago route has seen consistent growth in recent years, links to Chicago from UK regional cities outside Manchester have been much less stable. American Airlines withdrew their Birmingham to Chicago flights in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks, and plan to axe their Glasgow to Chicago flights at the end of the summer 2006 season. There has been a small amount of speculation that Scottish budget airline Flyglobespan might be interested in filling in the gap left by American. They have already announced flights to Boston and Las Vegas from Glasgow in addition to their existing Orlando flights.
Connecting flights
During off-peak periods finding good value direct flights to Chicago from London shouldn? t be a problem, but at busier times it can be cheaper to fly via another US city. Note that quite a few Chicago flight deals are not direct ? for example, United? s Chicago tickets from London are often routed via Washington DC. If you are looking to fly to Chicago from outside London, you\'re most likely to be offered connections via major European hubs such as Amsterdam (KLM / Northwest) or Zurich (Swiss), although the American carriers can also offer competitive connections through their respective hubs - e.g. Continental via New York (Newark), US Airways via Philadelphia etc.

Chicago goes big on arts and history. Its Art Institute is rightly regarded as one of the best in the country, and the lakeside Museum Campus brings together three superb venues: the Field Museum of Natural History, the Adler Planetarium, and the Shedd Aquarium. It? s also surprisingly well-stocked with specialty items: architecture fans will surely get a kick out of visiting the noted Frank Lloyd Wright creation Robie House, while devotees of live jazz are truly spoilt with a plethora of after-hours bars.
But it? s the particular gift of this city that it does the unfussy - those elements that appeal to the slob in all of us - just as well: fine pizza on offer in its local restaurants, and perhaps as much top-level sport (the Cubs of baseball, basketball?s Bulls, the Bears of gridiron, and the Blackhawks of ice hockey) as there is to be enjoyed in any other major American destination.
Caps here serve double duty: to denote allegiance to a particular team, and to keep out whatever weather happens to be passing through. Those travellers feeling especially brave can walk the shores of Lake Michigan itself, although the sun coming out provides a perfect opportunity to explore Millennium Park, with its Gehry-designed outdoor stage.

Taxi - There are metered taxis available from the taxi ransk,
which are located outside the arrivals area of all the terminals.
Bus - There are regular bus services from all the terminals
to central Chicago, operated by Continental Airport Express. The bus centre
is situated on the ground floor of the Terminal 5 car park.
Rail - There are regular train services to downtown Chicago
run by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). The CTA station is situated on
the ground level of the main parking garage of Terminals 1, 2 and 3.
Road - Travellers going to and from the airport can either
use a car, taxi, limousine or bus.
The airport is situated on Route 190. To get to Route 190 from Chicago, take
Route 90 from the northern and southern suburbs and from the western suburbs
take Route 88, then Route 294.
The airport has its own ATS train system, which conncects all terminals; the
Metra station; as well as the long-term car park.

Religion: Ther is an interfaith chapel situated on the mezzanine level of Terminal Two, and it is open 24 hours a day.

Eating & Drinking: The airport has a wide range of shops located in all the terminals,
