Rehoboth Beach is a city located in Sussex County in Delaware State of United States. Rehoboth Beach was earlier known as Henlopen City. The word Rehoboth means a place for all'. History of Rehoboth Beach
The city of Rehoboth Beach was founded in the year 1873 by the Rev. Robert W. Todd, who belonged to the St. Paul City's Methodist Episcopal Church of Wilmington in Delaware. History has it that Mr. Todd dreamt of a place for setting up of a camp meeting resort similar to the one he saw at Ocean Grove Camp on the Jersey Shore. He was pleasantly surprised to find the new place he had chosen to be exactly similar to the one he had dreamt of for his camp meetings. This place soon became the site for the Rehoboth Beach Camp Meeting Association which was later disbanded in the year 1881. In the year 1891, the city was incorporated by the Delaware General Assembly with the name Henlopen City. Later on the name was changed to Rehoboth Beach.
