Delaware park
Delaware park is located in the Buffalo, New York in United States. It was designed by Frederick law Olmsted, as the part of coordinating parks and traffic circles in the city. Buffalo is a American city situated in the western New York. It is the second largest city in New York and is the part of Buffalo-Niagara region. Buffalo is the center of economic and culture development in Buffalo - Niagara metropolitan city. Delaware Park is situated in the area of 350 acres. The park was constructed in the year 1875. Delaware Park can be divided into three parts as water feature, the wooden areas and large meadow. Water features also called as gala water' covers 42 acres of the park, whereas the large meadow is covering 120 acres of land.
History of Delaware Park
While planning the Delaware park, many features were added to make it a complete entertainment place. A boat house was also constructed in the park in 1875, but was demolished in the year 1900. In 1901, the boat house was replaced with two marble structures. These two marble structures are Historical Society Building and the Albright Art Gallery. Whereas on the large meadow, a municipal golf course was designed and constructed. A zoological collection centre was also build on this meadow, which was being used for grazing of sheep. The zoo was enlarged in the 1930's, as a part of Works Progress Administration project. In 1960, an expressway was constructed in the park, dividing it into two sections. It had resulted into more traffic and pollution in the park. The lake in the park was not managed and it got converted into an open sewer. In 1980's, efforts started pouring to clean the polluted lake, which reduced the shoreline of the lake drastically.
Activities in the Park
Bus tours are conducted for surveying and moving around the park. The bus tour is for 90 minutes. It has specific timings for touring the park and needs to be registered in advance. The tour costs $ 10 for adults and $ 5 for children, less than 13 years. Various events and programs are also arranged in the park. The events include tree plantation week, various fitness courses, seminars related to health issues, summer events, etc. Parties are also arranged by the authority of the park. The parties includes carriage rides, cocktails, dancing environment, dinner, auctions, etc. Special golf courses are also arranged by the park authority. The tutor for the golf course is Mr. Steve Harber, who is having 15 years experience in teaching golf. Various golf tournaments are also arranged in the park.
Overview
There are separate departments in the park for smoothly carrying the activities of the park. As, for protecting the masses and the property of the park, various policies are drafted for various departments. A separate department is made for providing protection to all the park's properties and equipments. A special department is designed with certified fireman instructors in Delaware County's Park for any emergency situation. A investigation division department made for carrying the responsibility for investigating the criminal activities that happens in the park area.
