Brookline also called as town of millionaires is a town in Norfolk County MassachusettS. T(e gocraphi#al LocaTion of town are 42 19′54″ N, 71 07′18″ W. The town covers an area of 17.7 square kilometer with only 0.1 square kilometer water. It is situated 50 feet above the ground. The neighboring towns include Newton and Boston.Brookline is known for its busy streets which are wired and wonderful. There are many pubs, shops and beautiful apartments. As of the 2000 census, the population of the town was 57,107.
History:
It was first established as the part of Boston and was known as Hamlet of Muddy River. But it regained its independence in 1705 and was incorporated then. On October 7, 1873, Brookline rejected the annexation by Boston. It was the first American city to do this. This day became the turning point in the history of Brookline as Brookline has set up the example for whole America as the independent wealthy suburbs.
Brookline's Town Meeting form of government is as old as 1600 s. At that time, all the people of Town use to gather and meet periodically. They use to decide regarding their homes, the meeting house, the amount of farming land with each family and other requirement of people and town. With the increase in population people decided to have a proper date of having meeting and town planning. First such recorded date is December 24, 1632. With further increase in population people decided to have some selected men to attend the meeting. In 1641 Body of Liberties was formed.
In the beginning of 19th century Brookline was called as "the richest town in America", because many Boston's elites built their summer homes.

Brookline is governed by municipal legislature representative town meeting. The town have a five-person Board of Selectmen which is an executive arm of town governments. City also have town moderator and advisory committee. Town moderator are selected for 3 years. They take care of town meetings. The Advisory Committee is a voluntary committee. They are selected by moderators. They are responsible for reviewing businesses coming before Town Meeting
