Boston, located in the eastern part of Massachusetts on Massachusetts Bay is the capital city and the largest city of the State of Massachusetts in USA. It is one of the cities of US which has the richest history and has also preserved most of its original building as memorials of America’s ancient times. Its rich history and heritage have made it a huge tourist attraction. The city has something to offer to all, from museums, to art galleries, brewery, bargain shops, aquarium etc.

The Freedom Trail, as the name suggests marks historical and revolutionary places. It is approximately two and a half mile length and one must visit it at leisure. If you wish you can cover the entire length in very little time but then you might miss out on the sites along the way. So the best way is to spare at least three hours to go through this part of Boston city.

Adams National Historic Site is administered by National Park Service. It comprises a visitor’s center and three homes associated with the lives and times of second and sixth US Presidents, John Adam and his son, John Quincy Adams. This historical jewel provides insight into Adam and his various family members’ lives, besides this it also showcases the life in the early days of Republic. There is free trolley service available to take you from one house to another, though you can drive on your own.

Boston Public Garden is the nation’s oldest botanical garden. You can view the famous swan boats every spring in the garden. During winters ice skating is another attraction of the garden. Cambridge Antique Market is the place where you will find beautiful antiques that you will never find in the malls. You will find everything from Fiestaware to Faux furs and first editions being sold by about 150 dealers who rent stalls in the four floors of the building. The basement is dedicated to furniture and a variety of large home furnishings.

There are a number of historical sites available like: Cranberry world, Boston public library, Boston Massacre site, Fall foliage, Quincy market etc.

Old North Church located at 193 Salem Street is Boston’s oldest standing church. Some noteworthy inside the building include two beautiful overhead brass chandeliers, a clock built in 1726 that according to the church is the oldest working clock of its kind, a double manual organ with 1,500 pipes, and a white spindled staircase leading to the pulpit. You must also have a look at the Park Street Church which is known for its location at ‘Brimstone Corner.’ Boston has entertainment stored for all age groups and can satisfy the likes of almost all people. Kids can have a blast in Boston. Kids don’t have to sit at home when the whether is gloomy. There are options for them to enjoy when it rains too. Kids can go to Children’s museum which even adults will surely enjoy. You can celebrate your child’s birthday here or even have a corporate meeting.

For kids who love to see the water animals, you can take them to the New England Aquarium. This can be a thrilling experience for both kids and adults. The aquarium is spiral in structure but not very large. Don’t miss the “Twilight Dwellers Tropical Gallery” which is a small tank of fish with lower eyelids that glow in the dark. Visitors must also take a look at the 2-foot long moray eels and the cuttle fish, who change both their color and texture to hide from predators. There is another exciting area within the aquarium, the New Aquarium Medical center where the veterinarians check the marine animals. Children can also visit the Franklin Park Zoo.

If you want to feel the adventure of a cruise and feel the ocean waves, you must go on the Summer Music Cruise. Now, this isn’t an actual cruise but it is more of a ferry-style ride which proceeds at a slow pace. The most enjoyable time for this is night as you can view the city awash with lights and feel the cool ocean breeze. Most tourists visit the Faneuil Hall which is located in the middle of the city. The four building are collectively called Faneuil Hall Marketplace- Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market, North Market and South Market. Shopping is not the only entertainment here; you will find jugglers, magicians, mimes and bands entertaining the crowd. The place is almost always crowded so take time to visit it. If you are a shopaholic but don’t like crowded areas, you can visit the Downtown Crossing. This is the place where most Bostonians like to shop.

You can actually plan a trip to a number of places when visiting the Downtown Crossing. Here you will get discount shopping; you can shop for almost everything from shoes to jewelry to music. The most famous store of Downtown Crossing is the Filene’s Basement known as the place to bargain. You will also find push cart vendors; don’t ignore them as they carry some beautiful articles.

If you like visiting museums than you must visit the Museum for Fine Arts. It showcases collection of works by Claude Monet. Another museum is the Museum of Science which has more than 400 exhibits.If you are a sports enthusiast Boston is the place to be in. Football & Soccer, Basketball & Hockey, Baseball you name it Boston has it. Some miles outside Boston are some beautiful and clean seaside spots for water lovers. The Crane beach is open from 8.00 am to sunset but the price is half after 3.00 pm. It is one of the most fabulous beaches in the area. Some other beaches near Boston are Wingaersheek Beach (Gloucester), Buzzards Bay Beaches (Falmouth), Nantasket Beach (Hull), Revere Beach, Singing Beach etc.

Boston has plenty of Irish pubs. Some good ones to check out are The Littlest Bar, The Plough and Stars, The Irish Embassy Pub, The Brendan Behan Pub etc. When in Boston don’t miss out on The Bull and Finch Pub on Beacon Street which was the inspiration of the hit T.V. series, “Cheers”.
