...I believe that the most important goal for a tutor is to ensure her tutee is gaining a full understanding of why the rules (in this case of grammar or Latin) are the way they are, instead of just trying to drill in the facts. That way a student's knowledge will be more complete and more satisfying. Learning should be fun, not a chore.
