I grew up in Seoul, Korea until I moved to the US when I was 12. In effort to not lose my edge in speaking Korean, I was strictly prohibited from speaking English and allowed to speak Korean only at home. Throughout my schooling, I became fluent in English, while interacting with family at home, I stayed fluent in Korean.
