...I have been teaching chess to both old and young. I played for the CSU chess team and finished second at the Mountain West Invitational in 1998. I am currently rated ELO 2000 on redhotpawn and I have won a number of online tournaments.

...My favorite part of studying chemistry was when we were given an unknown compound and told to figure out what it was! Throughout my undergraduate career, I volunteered to tutor 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students in subjects such as civic engagement, English, and math. After receiving my bachelor's degree, I spent some time studying Portuguese.

...Very recently one of the Dean's of Academic Affairs said to me: "You are a Rock Star in the Classroom". I take that comment to be a reference to my instruction since I neither play an instrument or sing that well. My basic attitude to the learner of the English Language is that the student is here to gain as much fluency and confidence in speaking well our language.
