Although, writing is important too. Hence why I am learning the Kana.

I think if you wanted to mean japanese corner it's not Nihongo no sumi it should be Nihongo no kashi. Kashi literaly meaning corner.

同意ですよ。「コーナー」の方が日本語っぽいと思う。「隅」は多分もっと「部屋の隅」という感じがあるね。
