I already said I was using Rosetta Stone in my introduction and Sobekhotep pointed out to me that many didn't like it.

I'd like to know what you think about it? Have you used it? Oh yeah, and if you have, what languages did you use it for? I'm trying it out for French.

I used it for Latin, the entire first level. I finished it, could do every lesson without error, and can hardly form a sentence in latin besides the ones on there. It might make a good supplement or just a way to learn vocabulary, but I don't think it can possibly stand up to its guarantee alone.

I'm in the process of using it for Spanish.

I have to say I'm not terribly impressed with it. It's very professionally put together (as far as the layout goes), but I don't find it especially good at teaching the language. Mind you, I'm not very far, but so far it's rather weak on the grammar forms that allow you to extrapolate outside the program. You learn how to say certain set phrases, but going beyond that is a challenge. I think it would be good for learning pronunciation, but I'm not sure, as Spanish pronunciation is very easy and I haven't tried it for a harder language.

I'd say it's not worth the money. You can get the same or better results for a tiny fraction of the cost. Still, don't let it discourage you if you've already spent the money. Use it to the extent it can help. Just know that it will probably fail to get you to where you want to go in the langauge

I've never used it, & I never will. From what I've read, Michel Thomas & Assimil are the best software for language learning.

@Jayan, My neighbor had it from his job in the language I wanted and for all three levels (that was extremely lucky) and he burned me copies of the DVDs (Shh!).

It does help with me knowing the pronunciation. But I have a feeling I'm not pronouncing the /oe/ or /y/ correctly. By knowing the pronunciation I mean the way the words sound in French which has confusing but pretty regular spelling.

You can easily download them from Internet too. /ʃ/

My friend has it for Russian. I completed it, and did every exercise, but I can barely form a Russian sentence, and that's mostly because I bought a Russian grammar.

It's great to teach you vocabulary, but not $300 great (however much it is).

You mean /œ/, not /oe/. The latter is a sequence of 2 vowels.
A tip for [œ] is to get ready to say [ɛ] but then round your lips as if you were going to say [u] or [o].

Yeah, and a similar tip for /y/, make your mouth say [i] and your lips say [u].
