I think it's more likely these scripts were created by gentiles but inspired by Jewish gematria. The alphabetical order of that Alphabet of the Magi resembles the order of the Hebrew alphabet.

Judaism shuns anything to do with magic or astrology.

That's why I said they didn't seem like the type of people to do such things in any era.

But if the Alphabet of the Magi resembles the alphabetical order of the of the Hebrew alphabet....wouldn't that mean that it might've been created by jews?

And if so how if their religion shuns such things?

What about Kabbalistic astrology?

Not necessarily. Hebrew wasn't totally unknown to gentiles, and as a sacred language was often regarded as possessing magical properties.

For a modern analogy, see the emblem of Anton LaVey's Church of Satan: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/22/Baphosimb.gif. The Hebrew letters around the circumference spell out "Leviathan."

Many Jews reject Qabbalah entirely.

Yes, but I think your original comment on the subject was categorical. There is a recognized mystic tradition in Judaism.

Granted but that's within the acceptable confines of the faith. Magick definitely is not.
