Which free online course do you suggest? I plan on learning German soon. I tried LiveMocha and I didn't like it.

Try the one of Deutsche Welle.
This is at least an orderly course, which brings you to some certain level (B1 of the Common European Framework or something like that).
This is a bit long, but it has grammar explanation, audio with transcripts and readings, too.
You arrive to their site, then look for "learning German".
