 3 times more then Standard Chinese?!

How many do you know? And the language sounds like a drunk Korean?! Oh I think I'm in love with this language already. Korean is my favorite language.....

....although I've never heard a drunk Korean speak before I can imagine it. XD

The entire vocabulary and grammar required to understand the religious and magical texts of which, is pretty much the whole language itself.

Well, that Korean made that remark about my recitation of the religious text in this language as an insult. That reference by that Korean was an insult, and that's that.

Oh ok I didn't know it was an insult.

Sorry.

Still I would like to hear it spoken.

But that still doesn't tell me the number of characters there are. 10,000? 50,000? or more?

It's virtually impossible to say exactly how many characters there in Chinese since there are tens of thousands which are rare or variant forms. But the largest Chinese dictionary I've ever heard of has about 80 000 entries. This is completely different from the official estimates for the number of characters needed to read Chinese fluently, which is usually in the neighbourhood of 3-5000 (depending on the level of education).

 A Chinese friend of mine said there were 50,000.

But I was talking about the number of characters in the language VROOR posted.

Again, it depends if you're talking about the total number of characters or how many are actually used.

Both actually as both are gnawing at my curiosity.

I sigh, when I learnt this language I never actually counted the numbers of characters. I am sure the Americans and English do not count the number of words in English when they learnt the English language. Nevertheless, I can start to count the entire vocabulary of this language and, when I am done (hopefully) I will inform you of the number.
