The word 'veda' in Czech and Slovak means 'science', so there are certain linguistic connections with Indo-Aryan languages that are not shared with other IE languages.

I think Iranian & Nuristani languages are even closer. ;)

That's the opinion of science, not lay people and pseudo-linguists who never heard of those languages.

He said there were certain connections that other IE languages didn't have, not that they were closer overall.

For example Russian grammar is much more conservative than English, but the phonology is very different from say Hindi.

You've never heard of the Persian language? :o

Right, and I'm saying that Iranian languages also have those connections. I'd be willing to bet there are more cognates between any given Indo-Aryan language and an Iranian language than with a Slavic language.

I've heard and studied a bit. Most people don't have a clue that Iranian languages are IE. Most people think Turkish, Arabic and Iranian are the same.

That's all actually unimportant. Those pseudo-linguists (of which Eastern Europe is full) don't care to what IE languages the Indo-Aryan languages are close to. Only how close they are to Slavic, and of course they claim they are the closest.

Sob, you should have already learned by now from me writing about it so many times that the reality of things is one thing and what people think is the truth a completely another. If you lived in a totalitarian regime like me and most people I know you'd perhaps understand. Reality and truth is what we make of it and that is the only rule.

And what was Tito's Yugoslavia? Or the reign of Milošević? Serbia hasn't been under a totalitarian government less than 10 years, which is less than half of my lifetime. But who am I kidding. You guys know s**t about life here.
