I haven't seen a topic like this so far so I decided to make one. What I first came here for was because I wanted to ask if you felt that your individual cultures effected how you communicate in English. Then I realized that there was no topic asking where any of you come from. For all I know you could all live in the same city as me!

Anyway I'm from Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Your turn!

I was born in Anchorage, Alaska, and now live in Redmond, Washington. However, I can be too Russian to be an American sometimes.

I am from New York City, But my grandmother was from the Cherokee reservation in North Carolina. I was taught Cherokee as a child every summer by my "lisi". My dad lived on the Seminole reservation in Florida. But basically I'm a New Yorker through and through :)

Greetings and Salutations.

I am from an island that is known as Taiwan of which, was named as Ilha Formosa (Formosa, for short) by the Portuguese sea-farers from the past last two centuries. Taiwan is also known as the "Republic of China" (ROC); however, this political status is denied by the Mainland China itself (the "People's Republic of China" - PRC). I am not into the politics, and thus, one can consider me as a "chinese" as well as a "taiwanese", such terms really matters little difference to me.

Peace.

I'm from a small village of 7000 souls called Báčsky Petrovec in Serbia's northern province of Vojvodina, in the south of one of its historical regions called Bačka. I was however born in a hospital in Novi Sad which is the capital of Vojvodina. Vojvodina is a unique region in Europe because it has six official languages, one of them being my own native Slovak which is spoken by about 60.000 people.

I'm from Petaluma, California. It's ~45 miles north of San Francisco and has a population of a little more than 59,000. Most people here talk with a General America accent.

I was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. However, I grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. I'm currently living in a town called Glendale, which is a suburb of Milwaukee.
