I use Arch Linux on my main computer. Arch Linux is a bleeding edge distro, so I get all the new features, but I also get all the new bugs.

While most other Linux users don't get crashes, for the past half a year or so I've been getting crashes once or twice every month - graphics driver related crashes. (Bugs in the new Intel driver.)

However, since June, I hear that the Intel drivers have mostly fixed, and I tried them, and they seemed to work. But I only tried them for a few days, then I left the country and I still haven't returned.

So when I get back home hopefully the crashes would be all gone.

I find the problem with Windows Vista is that it tends to fail on startup, not while running. That happened to me yesterday. I had to do a system restore and was not pleased.

I've never used Vista before. I'm still stuck with XP.

XP is much better, trust me. Lots of users who switched to Vista ended up downgrading back to XP.

The computer my family uses is Vista, the computer I use is XP. XP is far better.

Besides certain laptops which don't support Linux (because they don't share their stats), Linux can practically run everything. Apple is really Linux running underneath. (Well, BSD, but that's a different story). No defragging, no viruses, no problems (unless you're running a bleeding edge linux like Arch linux)
I'm a UNIX guy at heart anyway.

Linux and BSD (MacOSX) are more like cousins instead of the same thing, no?

Viruses and Defraging are part of the PC experience!

I'm running Windows 7 in a virtual machine. It's STILL a memory hog, but not as blatantly annoying as Vista. I haven't defragged since 2002 (When I switched to Linux for good) I defrag for other people, but never my own. It's really all how the file system works (and it is wll known that NTFS is notoriously bad.)

BSD actually came first. BSD is a pure UNIX. Linux is a complete UNIX rewrite initially for the Intel processor.
