I can't imagine not having a Windows PC.

I can't imagine having a Windows PC! Why drive a Hyundai when a Mercedes is SOO much better?
I have a virtual machine (VMware) which will boot up Windows inside of Linux if I happen to need a Windows program that doesn't run under Linux (like freelang's dictionaries)
And most games run under Linux anyway, so it's a non-issue. Linux is actually more flexible than a Mac. I just love The Mac desktop. I stopped using Windows in 2000. That was also my last crash.

What do you mean by more flexible? How is a computer flexible?

I mean I just don't see any reason why you'd want to use linux.

But besides that the PC has never crashed before. My laptop on the other hand gets the blue screen of death once or twice a month but a quick button-hold shutdown and it is fine.
Exactly the same for me.

It crashes now and then, but mainly from overheating I think (ie. my fault for running it for so long).

There's the obvious issue of price: most people can't afford a Mercedes. I'd rather drive a Hyundai anyway, though. :)

From personal experience and the opinions of people who know computers, Windows is mediocre at best as far as operating systems go. I switched to Linux a while ago.

I still don't get why you'd want to change to Linux.

Yeah, I mean, I use a computer for usefulness, not for quality of performance. Plus, I'm just too used to this thing, and people expect me to be used to it as well.

A PC is no longer useful to me when it no longer performs well (if it performed well at all!)

I tried Linux when I was in Computer Lit. and it was horrible. It wouldn't recognize my laptop's wireless adapter. I could not install the driver's for my printer and it gave me errors everytime I tried to get files off of a networked PC. None of my games would install and I couldn't use Adobe InDesign. I tried Ubuntu, Fedora, and another one. They all epically failed for me. I'm glad it works for you though, that's 300 dollars you'll save everyone 4 years.

Btw, I liked Ubuntu the best.

I agree. I tried Linux but couldn't use some of my applications for editing keyboard layouts that were Windows only. Plus I couldn't get the drivers for my scanner and printer. The fact that it was free software was of no importance to me: I already got Windows and all the applications for free (remember that I said I haven't bought legal software in my whole life and the software I did buy was from the street). :D
