I have introduced myself once in the older forum, but since the forum history was lost, I'll do it again

My name is Kenneth Ngan and I'm turning 15 a few days later. I'm a Secondary 3 student from Hong Kong. I think many writing systems and languages are beautiful, although I know only a bit about them.
My native language is Cantonese and I had access to English and Mandarin (what we call Putonghua) before kindergarten, but now I'm still not very good at these two languages. I have been learning Japanese these days, but maybe I'm too lazy, I do not search for resources to learn and just learn from courses. I have tried to make an excuse - I'm too busy, but if I am that busy I won't be posting here.
I made a conscript last year, called Iasweu, and I have been improving it and making it look and sound less English or Cantonese. I also wanted to make a conlang for it, but I haven't added a word or some grammar in it for a while.
(So many "but"s... I really need to work on my English.)

If you had just given your name right away without further comment then nothing would have happened. But after saying you just incited to google it!

Welcome back Nhan Chiêu Kỳ! (That would be your Vietnamese name). I'm very interested in learning both 普通话 and 广东话 (廣東話) but for now I'm learning the first one. Can you give me an insight as to how similar/different the two are? Whenever I hear Cantonese, there's always the odd word or two that sounds like Vietnamese. Maybe because we borrowed a lot of words from you.

It's funny and interesting how in Chinese the characters can be read in many ways.

Sino-Korean: 안쇠기 /an soyki/ or 안소기 /an soki/. (I couldn't tell you which would be more usual, since 釗 is a rare character in Korea. For that matter, 顏 isn't part of the relatively small store of Chinese-derived surnames which are commonly found there.)

I think it would be 쇠. My IME doesn't show 釗 for 소.

IMEs list only the most common readings, which may or may not be the ones used in names. My usual source for Sino-Korean lists both 쇠 and 소. What you really need, of course, is a specialised dictionary biased for names.
