Lushootseed is a member of the Coast Salishan group of languages, spoken in the Puget Sound. Is Spokane Falls near the Puget Sound? My doctorate was in American Indian Linguistics, and my research was on the Tlingit Indians. I lived with them for a year. . . .

Spokane Falls are in Spokane, at the other end of Washington from Puget Sound. Salishan languages, however, are found that far east.

As a matter fact some dialects of Salishan linguistic stock (more of a sub language rather) are found as far as Montana :)

I thought that was the case, but I couldn't confirm it.

I'm not much help, but I do know there is a Lushootseed course at Skagit Valley College, the teacher there may be able to help you find any information you need. Message me and I'll be happy to give you all of the contact information.

I'm personally really tempted to take this course this summer... It seems like a blast!!
Please correct me if I make a mistake!

This might prove interesting for Nuxálk (formerly known as Bella Coola).
