Hi Everyone! My name is Meera and I'm new to this forum. I absoutley love lanaguges and right now I am studdying Hindi, Tamil, Persian and Arabic. I know Pashto and English and Dari.

You know Dari but you're studying Persian? The way I understand it, Dari is a dialect of Persian. I guess you're studying the Farsi/Iranian dialect, then?

I think it's more like they're different but closely related languages, like Norwegian and Swedish or Hindi and Urdu.

Yeah The Iranian Dialect is very diffrent from Afghan, most Afghans can understand it but unforuently I can't :oops:

Hmmm. I would argue that Hindi & Urdu are part of a single dialect continuum called Hindustani, which is one language. Both Standard Hindi & Standard Urdu are based on Khariboli, the prestige dialect of Hindustani.
