A preprint released yesterday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences reports reconstruction of 23 words from a proposed Proto-Eurasiatic language at 12,700 to 16,200 BP. Families included in the proposal include Altaic, Chukchi-Kamchatkan, Dravidian, Inuit-Yupik, IE, Kartvelian, and Uralic.
I'd be impressed if this is accepted, but given criticisms of other attempts, I'm skeptical until the methodology is reviewed.
