I'm now reading the Book of Mormon, while doubting that there ever was a language called Reformed Egyptian. Yet the word "deseret" alledgedly means "bee". I wouldn't mind being proven wrong on this.

You can see the Egyptian hieroglyph for "bee" on this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_hieroglyphs/L. The conventional transliteration of this is bjt and this element survives in the coptic word ebio(u) "honey".

As you can see, there's no reasonable way to get "deseret" from bjt.

I just Inheritance, released on the 8th.

It was um...different. Let's just put it this way; if I was to decide when the series ended, it was at 3, not 4. :?

I'm reading through this right now, and finding it pretty thoroughly confusing. It's not a book really, but it's reading material. Maybe not the best thing out there to read, but whatever -- it's interesting.

Done with that now. I think I had to read it several times over before it made sense. It's interesting and a worthwhile read if you know what you're doing, but I unfortunately didn't on the first pass and I had a lot to untangle.

I'm supposed to be reading Toute L'Histoire du Monde or whatever it's called, but I haven't gotten to that yet.
