The evidence is already on here. If it were a decoration the symbols would repeat like crazy. But they haven't only once on symbol has appeared more them once ( twice ).

while you have a point that decoration does usually contain patterns it does not always have to be so

and saying that you don't think it is decoration is much different than saying "There is no way that this could be a decoration."

Plus has anyone looked at the Alphabet of the Magi? There are letters that are similar...very similar:



I think that it might be some sort of magical alphabet. When I Googled them I couldn't find anything that looked like it. But I'll keep looking.

I appreciate all the input on this. It is nice to see several of you agree with me on the type of script. Even if we don't know which one it is. I also have this posted on a bayonet collector's forum and I am very active on. A buddy there has found a list of German blade makers that are listed as using what was listed at the time as using "Jewish" scripts on their blades. These makers are: Johann Peter Bauermann 1775
Peter Wilhelm Berg 1777
Wilhelm in Wald Bauermann 1775

There may be others, but this seems to be another point of confirmation for what we think the type of script is. I haven't tried it yet, but translating these names into alphabet of the Magi might make something pop out in the block of text.

They don't seem like the kind of people to do such a thing.

I think it is tied up the the Kabbalah. I'm really not too up on it, but there is a long history of Jewish belief in the power of the written word. Probably stems from the use of phylacteries (not sure I spelled that right). Anyway, I don't think it is really a Jewish belief, but something that spun off from them.
